Update:

Mexico come into this World Baseball Classic quarterfinal as Pool C winners, taking apart Canada 10-3 -- with Randy Arozarena in fine form -- to top Pool C over the United States. Second spot in Pool D was snatched by Puerto Rico with a final day 5-2 win over the Dominican Republic. Now the two teams go head-to-head for a coveted place in the international semifinals, with Japan awaiting the victor.

That win for Puerto Rico was marred by the injury to Edwin Diaz as he celebrated. A torn patellar tendon in his right knee means he’ll miss the rest of the tournament. So let’s check who is available to start in this latest matchup.

Puerto Rico vs Mexico: starting pitchers

Chicago Cub starter Marcus Stroman, formerly of the Toronto Blue Jays and who represented the U.S. in 2017, will aim to be Puerto Rico’s star and he’ll be up against Julio Urias for Mexico, who undoubtedly will be.
