Record-breaking season could get even better for Cal Raleigh
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh is officially the most dangerous slugger in Major League Baseball - and he’s not even at the All-Star break yet.

Cal Raleigh rang in the 4th of July by letting off a few fireworks of his own - blasting two homers to lead the Seattle Mariners to a 6–0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates and etch his name deeper into the MLB record books.
Raleigh entered the day with 33 homers - just one shy of his personal best from last season. He wasted no time, launching No.34 in the first inning: a two-run missile that scored Julio Rodríguez and gave Seattle an early lead. It soared 433 feet to left field and left the bat at 115.2 mph, the hardest-hit ball of his career.

Raleigh sets new personal best
In the sixth inning, Raleigh struck again—this time with a solo shot that chased Pirates starter Bailey Falter from the game. With that swing, he not only set a new personal best but also tied Ken Griffey Jr. for the most home runs in Mariners history before the All-Star break.
Randy Arozarena got the power parade rolling in the 4th inning with a solo shot to right field—his 13th of the season—off a 78.9 mph curveball from Bailey Falter. Dylan Moore capped the scoring in the 7th with a two-run homer to left-center, driving in Donovan Solano. The 387-foot shot came off a 91.4 mph slider and gave Moore his ninth homer of the year.

Could Raleigh snatch Aaron Judge’s record?
What makes Raleigh’s 2025 campaign even more electrifying is that he’s one of the few true switch-hitters in Major League Baseball. Of his 35 home runs, 14 have come batting right-handed and 21 from the left side, showcasing rare balance and adaptability at the plate
And he remains on course to make AL history. According to MLB’s latest projections, if Raleigh stays healthy and plays in every remaining game, he’s on track to hit 64 home runs this season. That would shatter the American League single-season record of 62, set by Aaron Judge in 2022.
