The Major League Baseball (MLB) season has officially begun, and the Seoul Series between the Dodgers and the Padres has marked the beginning of a year that promises to excite fans. Apart from the mega-signings of the Los Angeles teams, with Ohtani and Yamamoto as their star players, many franchises will try to outperform the Texas Rangers.

When Opening Day 2024 arrives, 30 starters across all franchises, including 14 pitchers scheduled to debut in that role for the first time in their careers, will be featured. Another 20 players have been All-Stars, and another four have just changed teams for this new season. Here, you will find a list of all the names and games that will be played in the MLB at the start of the year.

March 20: Dodgers vs. Padres (Seoul Series)

Tyler Glasnow (Los Ángeles Dodgers): The Californian has eaten Yamamoto’s toast at the start of the season. This will be his second start after doing the same in 2021 when he was a member of the Tampa Bay Rays.

Yu Darvish (San Diego Padres): In 2024, Darvish will make his third Opening Day pitch in the last four seasons.

March 28: Brewers vs. Mets

Freddy Peralta (Brewers): This is Peralta’s first Opening Day start, taking over from Burnes and Woodruff in Milwaukee.

José Quintana (Mets): Last season, he could not start on Opening Day due to a rib injury. Now, seven years after his debut in such an event, he can start and redeem himself.

March 28: Braves vs. Phillies

Zack Wheeler (Phillies): With his debut on Opening Day, Wheeler breaks Aaron Bola’s streak of six consecutive seasons as an opener. Since he arrived in Philadelphia in 2020, the Georgian has made a name for himself in the MLB.

Spencer Strider (Bravos): Strider has been the pitcher for the Atlanta franchise for three seasons in a row this Opening Day.

March 28: Angels vs Orioles

Corbin Burnes (Orioles): will debut after being purchased by the Orioles in February. In addition, in 2024, he will make his third Opening Day in a row.

Patrick Sandoval (Angels): Ohtani’s designated successor, a huge mantle for any player. He would be the first left-hander to win on Opening Day since 2009 if he achieves victory.

March 28: Twins vs. Royals

Pablo López (Twins) will debut in his second consecutive season.

Cole Ragans (Royals): At 26 years old, he will make his Opening Day debut and be succeeding veteran Zack Greinke.

March 28: White Sox vs. Tigers

Mitch Keller (Pirates): He is the first pitcher to repeat Opening Day since 2017. In addition, he breaks the Pirates’ precocity record at only 27 years old, the youngest to do so.

Jesús Luzardo (Marlins): Luzardo will replace Sandy Alcántara while he recovers from his injury. He will be the first pitcher on Opening Day after four years of Alcántara pitching.

March 28: Cardinals vs. Dodgers

Miles Mikolas (Cardinals): Due to a hamstring strain, he could not start in the Sonny Gray Opening Day game after his renewal.

Julio Urías (Dodgers).

March 28: Nationals vs Reds

Josiah Gray (Nationals): After his first All-Star, Gray debuts on an Opening Day for the first time in his career.

Frankie Montas (Reds): The one from the Reds is pitching again after two seasons almost stopped. This will be the third time he has pitched on an Opening Day.

March 28: Nationals vs Reds

José Berríos (Blue Jays): This will be Berríos’ second opening on an Opening Day.

Zach Eflin (Rays): Shane McClanahan’s injury has allowed Eflin to debut on an Opening Day.

March 28: Yankees vs. Astros

Néstor Cortés (Yankees): He will replace Gerrit Cole, who is sidelined with an elbow injury.

Framber Valdez (Astros): This will be the third time he has played on an Opening Day, the best streak since 2015.

March 28: Giants vs. Padres

Logan Webb (Giants): runner-up for the 2023 CY Young Award, will make his third consecutive start on Opening Day 2024.

Blake Snell (Padres).

March 28: Cubs vs. Rangers

Justin Steele (Cubs) debuts as a pitcher with the Cubs, becoming the tenth left-handed player in their history after arriving in style following his fifth-place finish in the 2023 CY Young Award.

Nathan Eovaldi (Rangers): After three starts in a row with the Red Sox, he will now be the fourteenth starter on Opening Day with the Texans.

March 28: Guardians vs A’s

Shane Bieber (Guardians): In 2024, Bieber will pitch for Cleveland on Opening Day for the fifth consecutive time, the longest active streak in the MLB.

Alex Wood (A’s): After three seasons with the Giants, Wood signed with Oakland last winter. He will make his Opening Day debut with them this season.

March 28: Red Sox vs Mariners

Brayan Bello (Red Sox): At 24, he will be the youngest starter to play on Opening Day with the Boston squad.

Luis Castillo (Mariners): With this, he will make his second consecutive start in Seattle, the fourth of his career after doing so twice for the Red Sox.

March 28: Rockies vs D-Backs

Kyle Freeland (Rockies): Germán Márquez is still in the infirmary, so those from Colorado must bet on Freeland. The opener will make his third Opening Day with the franchise.

Zac Gallen (D-Backs): He took third place in the CY Young 2023 and will now debut on the Opening Day with the Arizona team.
