Yankees sign Cody Bellinger to 5-year deal: all the contract details
Here’s everything you need to know about Cody Bellinger’s 5-year deal with the Yankees.

The New York Yankees have closed the books on one of the most talked-about free-agent sagas of the offseason, agreeing to a five-year contract with outfielder Cody Bellinger that keeps him in pinstripes through at least 2030.
After a standout 2025 campaign that saw him emerge as one of New York’s most consistent offensive producers, the left-handed bat has secured a deal worth $162.5 million.
At the heart of the contract is a juicy $20 million signing bonus, an immediate cash sum payable on April 1 that shows the team’s confidence in Bellinger as a core cog in the lineup. The deal also includes $32.5 million in the first two seasons, $25.8 million in the next two, and $25.9 million in 2030. He also has a full no-trade provision.

Alongside the total value, the agreement includes two opt-out clauses after the 2027 and 2028 seasons.
These give Bellinger the flexibility to test the open market again if his performance merits it or if circumstances in New York change.
Bellinger’s deal also comes with a full no-trade clause, ensuring he can’t be moved without his consent. That is significant in a Yankees context, where roster flexibility is often balanced against the desire to retain key contributors.
This finish to Bellinger’s free-agency is notable because it makes him the last of the top hitters from this offseason’s market to sign. Rumours had swirled around multiple contenders, and reports suggested that rival clubs were interested, but in the end the outfielder chose stability in the Bronx.
The new contract comes after Bellinger opted out of the final year of his previous deal, hitting the market following a productive year in which he went .272/.334/.480 with 29 home runs and 98 runs batted in across 149 games.
He was especially dangerous at Yankee Stadium, where he hit over .300 with 18 of his homers, offering a powerful presence in the heart of the order.
