Update:

The Minnesota Timberwolves survived an Anthony Edwards injury scare to take a 117-93 win against the Golden State Warriors and tie the Western Conference semi-final 1-1.

After the Game 1 loss Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch had been critical of Edwards, demanding a better attitude from the star. Finch was looking for a reaction and he got it on Thursday.

Midway through the second quarter Edwards landed awkwardly and got his left ankle stepped on while trying to balance himself. He tumbled to the floor and immediately clutched his ankle. It looked like Edwards may be forced to exit the game but he returned to the court after the halftime break and helped his team to the win.

Speaking after the game, Finch admitted that he had feared the worst: “This one I was really worried about, actually. But there’s lots of ways that being an elite athlete pay off and being able to shake those things is one of them."

I was really planning on not seeing him for the rest of the game, to be honest with you,” Finch revealed.

Edwards ended the game with 18 points but was part of a cast of scorers for the Timberwolves that put up good numbers. In addition to Edwards’ showing, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Jaden McDaniels and Julius Randle all put up at least 15 points.

The Timberwolves now have a chance to build some momentum with Stephen Curry not expected to return from injury until next week. Curry will likely miss Game 3 (Saturday) and Game 4 (Monday), giving Minnesota the opportunity to take a commanding lead with two road games coming up.
