Detroit completes the comeback
Detroit, meanwhile, held their composure on every possession. The comeback took shape with each Orlando mistake, turning a 22-point deficit into a 93–79 victory that sealed the Magic’s elimination. The finish left no doubt, with emotional and tactical control that completely unraveled their opponent.
The scale of the comeback places Detroit in a very exclusive group. They became just the third team in the play-by-play era to overcome a 20-point halftime deficit while facing elimination in the playoffs.
The benchmark remains the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2018 (25 points), followed by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2024 (20), and now Detroit in 2026 (24).
