The Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Lakers qualified for the Western Conference Finals after having looked very solid in the postseason and the series between both teams was expected to be an intriguing one. Michael Malone’s men were the favorites to advance to the Finals, but in truth, not massive ones over LA. In the end, however, the hype proved to be accurate. Nikola Jokic & co. unceremoniously swept the Lakers in the Conference Finals and that was that.

This of course was after the Nuggets easily defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first-round playoff series, with Denver progressing in five, which they then followed up with a gritty performance against the against the Phoenix Suns, one of the main favorites to win the Championship this year, especially with the addition of superstar Kevin Durant. That didn’t matter with Jokic on the floor though. The Serbian star was unstoppable as he led the Nuggets to a 4-2 series win over the Suns.

Can the Nuggets finally do it?

Now, the Nuggets have a golden opportunity to make NBA history by winning their very first championship. They utterly dominated the Lakers, and with that afforded themselves a considerable amount of rest, while the Miami Heat - their opponents in the finals - went to seven games in their Conference Finals series against the Boston Celtics.

To date, The Nuggets have played in five Conference finals, including the one that they just won. That of course was the first time they did so having lost to the Lakers on three occasions and once to the Seattle SuperSonics. To be clear, the Nuggets just made history by making it to their very first NBA Finals. Yet, as you can probably imagine, things could get a whole lot more historic if they manage to win the championship itself.
