Juan Toscano-Anderson sustained a contusion on his right quadriceps and had to exit the Los Angeles Lakers’ preseason game on Thursday against the Minnesota Timberwolves, which they lost 114-99.

The forward played for 15 minutes and sank a couple of three-point shots before he was forced to leave the game with the thigh injury in the third quarter. He proceeded to the locker room to be treated.

Goodbye to Golden State

Toscano-Anderson parted ways with the Golden State Warriors after he became an unrestricted free agent in the offseason. He signed a $1.9 million veteran’s minimum contract with the Lakers in July this year.

The 29-year-old spent the first three years of his time at the NBA with Golden State, recording an average of 4.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists over 139 games. He shot 52.3% from the field and 36.1% from the three-point area.

Toscano-Anderson said that the return of Klay Thompson to the Warriors resulted in a decreased role for him in the squad. He said that he was looking forward to new opportunities with the Lakers, especially since there are a lot of new faces on the Los Angeles roster with many still trying to determine how they fit into the team.

The Lakers currently sit at the bottom of the Western Conference preseason games standings with a 0-3 record. The team was largely shorthanded as head coach  Darvin Ham chose to sideline their stars including LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook.
