Jonathan Isaac will play no further part in this season’s campaign after suffering a new setback. Just 11 games into the regular season, the Orlando Magic forward succumbed to another injury. The Magic announced on Friday that the 25-year-old had undergone surgery to repair damage to his adductor, effectively bringing his campaign to an end. Medical staff detected a tear to the player’s left adductor muscle during an MRI scan on Wednesday and it was decided that surgery was the best option. It is estimated that he faces between three to four months out. Issac has only returned to action in January after spending two years recovering from an ACL injury.

Magic support

“Our thoughts are with Jonathan, whose fortitude in dealing with adversity is unique,” Magic president Jeff Weltman said in a statement. “Jonathan has worked extremely hard to return to the court this season and has demonstrated his impact on our team. We will be by his side as he focuses on the work ahead.”

The Magic confirmed the news on Friday: “An MRI conducted on Wednesday revealed the injury, after [Isaac] felt discomfort following Tuesday’s practice in Milwaukee.”

The Magic chose Isaac as the sixth overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. He has made a total of 147 appearances for Orlando since then, and averaged 5 points, 4 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 4 rebounds per game before injury cut short his season.
