Players and coaches were disappointed, but not surprised, with poor officiating in Tuesday’s game between the Indiana Fever and Connecticut Sun.

Indiana Fever HC doesn’t hold back on quality of WNBA referees: “Everybody’s getting better except the officials”

Stephanie White explained the situation clearly at the post-game press conference. She didn’t say anything new or revealing for those who follow the WNBA, but now it’s time for the league to make some changes and demand its officiating corps to improve or someone’s going to get hurt.
“When you allow these things to happen, they’re going to compete and they’re going to have their teammates’ backs,” White told reporters. “I started talking to the officials in the first quarter and we knew this was going to happen.”
Crazy to say but an Indiana Fever regular season game is more entertaining than the nba finals. Legit can’t believe I wrote that https://t.co/3EfEGqCMkH

White continued her rant demanding the officials improve how they protect the players on the court. “They gotta be better, they gotta be better,” she said. “I’ve seen quite a few dustups in the league so far so I think it’s a league-wide issue. Bad officiating is bad officiating.”
Coach White made it clear that it’s not only directed at her team or at Caitlin Clark. “Every year when we have our league meetings we say the same things, over and over again and nothing has changed,” the Fever HC said at the post-game presser. “The game has changed so much. Players are faster, they’re better, they’re bigger, they’re stronger. They’re as good as they’ve ever been. They’re as athletic as they’ve ever been. The game is fast now. Things are happening quickly. Everybody’s getting better, except the officials. So, we’ve got to find a way to remedy it.”
