Jalen Williams receives injury news ahead of Thunder test
The Oklahoma City Thunder have a huge boost ahead of their upcoming game.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are about to get a major boost. Jalen Williams, the dynamic wing who starred for them last season, is officially set to return to action. He will make his 2025–26 season debut this Friday when the Phoenix Suns visit Oklahoma City.
Williams had missed the first 19 games while recovering from wrist surgery. He underwent a July procedure to repair a torn ligament, an injury he had played through during the Thunder’s championship run, and later had a second procedure to remove a screw from his wrist on October 31.
This careful recovery process meant he was left off the current injury report ahead of the Suns game.
His return is significant for Oklahoma City. Despite being without one of their top players, the Thunder have surged to an impressive 18–1 start, one of the best openings in NBA history.
Last season, Williams averaged 21.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game. His two-way play made him a vital piece of the Thunder’s championship puzzle. Now, with Williams back in the mix, the team’s already formidable roster gets even stronger.

Because he missed too many games early in the season to meet the NBA’s 65-game minimum, he is ineligible for postseason awards this year. As a result, his contract extension will initially count for just 25% of the salary cap, though his salary will still increase significantly, from $6.6 million this season to $41.5 million next season.
