LeBron James fires back at Rockets talk with blunt NSFW message after Game 5 loss
When Houston Rockets’ Jabari Smith talked smack about the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James gave a simple but blunt response after their Game 5 loss.

The Los Angeles Lakers may have missed their chance to close out the series, but LeBron James wasn’t interested in playing into any extra drama.
“I’m too old...”
After the Lakers’ 99–93 loss to the Houston Rockets in Game 5, a result that cut the series to 3–2, James was asked about comments from Jabari Smith Jr., who had boldly claimed Houston is “the better team.”
“I just feel like we’re the better team.”

“I don’t care about sh** like that bro,” LeBron said. “Ask one of the young guys that question, I’m too old for that sh**.”

At this stage of his career, LeBron isn’t engaging in back-and-forth narratives, and especially not in the first round. His reaction wasn’t dismissive of the Rockets as much as it was revealing of his mindset: focus on the result, not the noise. It’s a stark contrast between generations. A young player like Smith is embracing confidence and headlines, while a veteran like LeBron is filtering it out entirely.
Smith backed up his confidence on the court, leading Houston with 22 points in Game 5 as the Rockets kept their season alive. The win marked Houston’s second straight after falling into a 3–0 hole, suddenly injecting belief into one of the youngest playoff teams in the league.

Meanwhile, the Lakers looked like they were expecting to close things out. They shot just over 42% from the field, struggled from three, and committed costly turnovers that helped swing momentum toward Houston. Still, even with the loss, Los Angeles remains one win away from advancing.
Pressure shifts to the Lakers
The Lakers were up 3–0, a position no team in NBA history has ever lost from. Now, after back-to-back losses, that once-comfortable lead suddenly carries pressure.
Alperen Sengun says the Rockets are going to win a game in L.A. and make the Lakers nervous

“I think everybody is still hungry, and we are going over there to get another one, and come back home, and make them a little nervous.”

Houston, on the other hand, is playing with momentum and nothing to lose. The Rockets have won two straight, found their offensive rhythm, and gained confidence behind their young core. Now, they head into Game 6 believing they can push this series even further.
