Luka Doncic cannot lift the Mavericks by himself

Luka Doncic simply can’t win the NBA by himself.

The Slovenian continues to elevate the Dallas Mavericks to positions of honor in the Western Conference but seems to be completely on his own while doing so. And it seems that Dallas has committed itself to doing little or nothing to change that.

The Mavericks fell to the Los Angeles Clippers in what was their second consecutive loss and the third in the last four games. They left behind the streak of seven consecutive victories that placed them in the top 4 in the West. After all, it was only Doncic’s extraordinary feats that led the Texans to such a number of game wins. The Slovenian had 41.7 points, 11 rebounds, and 9.9 assists.

But this kind of performance cannot simply be extended during 82 meetings of the regular season. Some kind of help that allows Doncic to take a breather knowing that his team got his back in his absence, or when he misses two triples in a row, is what he deserves.

Doncic for MVP

And while the Mavericks star is one of the League’s top scorers and continues to make his case for MVP this season, Doncic seems to be more focused on his performance outside of the NBA.

When asked if he follows what Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid and his other MVP competitors are doing, Doncic answered, “not really”. He added that he watches more EuroLeague than NBA.

The 23-year-old is dominating the NBA now, averaging 34 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 8.7 assists per game. He also dominated the EuroLeague, having won it in the 2017-18 season, and was the Regular Season MVP.

If Doncic wins MVP this year, it would be his first one, and we certainly think he deserves it.
