Update:

The Heat, Clippers and Jazz have agreed to a multiway deal which will send Norman Powell to Miami, John Collins to Los Angeles, with veteran pair Kevin Love and Kyle Anderson heading to Utah. As part of the trade, Utah also will receive the Clippers’ second-round draft pick in 2027.

Powell has a decade of experience playing the NBA. He started out with the Toronto Raptors, with whom he clinched the title in 2019, then spent a couple of seasons in Portland before being traded to the Clippers in February 2022.

He ended last season with the best figures of his career - averaging 21.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists - the team’s second top scorer behind James Harden.

Finding a new home for Powell

The Jazz and the Clippers spent several weeks discussing a possible trade involving Collins and Powell - the main obstacle was finding a team to take Powell for the final year of his contract. Miami appeared after conversations resumed last week.

Collins meanwhile will be joining up with Ivica Zubac in LA. The 27-year-old spent the last seasons with his hometown team after a six-season stint in Atlanta, who selected him with the No. 19 overall pick in the 2017 Draft.

An ankle injury limited his playing time last season. He completed 40 games, averaging 19 points and 8.2 rebounds as the Jazz failed to make it to the postseason for the third year in a row.

Utah take on seasoned veterans

Completing the deal, five-time All-Star Kevin Love, whose career has includes spells with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers and Heat, will begin his 18th season in the league with Utah. Joining him will be Kyle Anderson, who made 25 appearances for the Heat last season, averaging 6.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists.
