Update:

Stephen Curry is one of the greatest legends in NBA history. Since the American point guard burst onto the scene in the 2009–2010 season — after being selected 7th overall in the draft by the Golden State Warriors — few have matched his impact in the league.

His achievements, both individual and team-based, speak for themselves. The all-time leader in three-pointers made (over 4,000), Curry has won four NBA championships (2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022), been named regular season MVP twice (2015 and 2016 — the first one unanimously, a feat no other player has achieved), made the All-NBA First Team four times, participated in eleven All-Star Games (2014–2019, 2021–2025), and was crowned Finals MVP in 2022. His arrival changed the way basketball is played.

Now at 37 years old, he remains a top reference in the NBA. Just last week, he scored 52 points in a win against the Memphis Grizzlies (125–134), once again proving that even in the twilight of his career, “Chef Curry” still has plenty left in the tank.

What’s allowing him to maintain this level is a demanding recovery routine. He explained it in an interview with Business Insider, revealing what his life is like off the court.

“What time I wake up depends on whether there’s a game or not, but I usually get up around 7:00 a.m. I start training at 9:00. I usually have breakfast at the facility right before. I’m a creature of habit, so I like to eat a yogurt parfait with granola and berries, and some kind of egg dish, either an omelet or scrambled eggs, sometimes with spinach. I also eat half a waffle for carbs and sometimes a protein shake. It’s a healthy breakfast,” said the Magic Johnson Award winner.

It’s a very complete breakfast, but not an easy one to digest: “It’s definitely a heavy task. I really have to work hard to maintain my calorie intake. I enjoy good food and eating for fun, but I’m more of an ‘eat to live’ kind of person,” he revealed. Still, he’s a very responsible person: “I’m quite disciplined, although every now and then you want a cheat day to enjoy. My birthday is in March, and right after that comes playoff prep and the final stretch to chase titles. So I get more disciplined around that time. But other times, like in the summer, there are no rules. I just try to eat in moderation and as healthily as possible.”

About dinner, he said: “I like to cook, but I never do because my wife is an exceptional chef. She loves taking care of the family. Sometimes she asks me: ‘What do you want for dinner?’ And I never know what to say because the options are endless. So I ask her to give me three choices. It always turns out delicious. She makes it look so easy.”

He also revealed that of their four children, the oldest is the least picky:“She eats whatever’s on her plate. She was eating oysters at 3 years old. She wants to try everything, it’s her passion.”

Leaving food aside and returning to his recovery routine, Curry gave more insight into his life off the court: “I like to take long walks and ride bikes around the neighborhood with my kids. As a family, we like to stay active, move around, and be outdoors, and we’ve seen how good that is for our minds and bodies. It’s a lifestyle.” “I’ve been competing for 16 years and just turned 37. I’ve realized that everything matters, especially sleep: the amount, the consistency, and the quality. The older you get, the more you think about it.”

“It’s important to have a routine. In my case, cold plunges, sauna sessions, compression sleeves, and various supplements. All of that gives me a little boost and allows me to perform at a high level, even at this age. If I skip any part of it, I feel it and don’t recover the way I need to, especially at this stage in my career. So I’m committed and enjoy the process, which is really rewarding. It takes time, but it works. The results speak for themselves.”

On his ideal evening: “It’s a nice family dinner, no doubt. We’re very homey. Then I’ll watch a show with my wife or put on a game. I watch basketball all the time. I try to go to bed at a decent hour so I’m ready for the next day.”

To finish, he talked about his night routine: “To relax, I use Normatec compression boots while I watch a show, read a book, or chat with my wife. Then I put on a sleep audio track that triggers brain waves and helps me sleep deeply. I fall asleep somewhere between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m., depending on the night. My wife and I try to go to bed at the same time, but it doesn’t always work. I’m a night owl, so I keep her up later than she’d like. For some reason, I’m very productive at night,” he said.

The Ohio native is under contract through the end of the 2026–27 season, so fans can still enjoy his game for a few more years.
