Despite the fact that the Golden State Warriors were eliminated from the NBA playoffs, Steph Curry has been awarded for his performance on the court. The 36-year-old took the majority of votes and obtained the award for his brilliant actions in the final minutes of games.

Every year in NBA basketball several awards are given to the players, among them is the Jerry West Trophy that is awarded to the ‘Clutch Player of the Year’.

What was Curry’s record in the league?

This award has gone to Curry because, over the regular season, he scored 189 decisive points, which was the highest amount in the league. Likewise, he played more decisive games than any other player, with 48 total appearances.

Curry received 45 votes in the selection process, placing him above DeMar DeRozan (with 34 votes) and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (with 11 votes).

Curry led the league in several clutch categories, including points (189), 3-pointers (32) and field goals made (59), hitting 49.6% from the field, 45.7% from 3-point range and 39-of-41 from the free throw line (95.1%).

Who else has won the Clutch player award?

The award was first handed out last year, when Sacramento’s De’Aaron Fox won the inaugural trophy — named for West, the league’s original “Mr. Clutch”. Miami’s Jimmy Butler game second and DeRozan finished third.

“You have to be able to face failure”, the Golden State Warriors’ banner said. “You have to be okay with the shot you miss and have a short memory for it. I don’t know if anything worked other than knowing how much time you’ve invested in the game and with that comes well-deserved confidence.”

“We’re not that far off, even having tried to stay at this level and at this peak for so long,” said Curry, who will play for the U.S. at the Paris Olympics this summer. “There’s going to be some tweaks, we know. When you lose, you have to look yourself in the mirror and say ‘What can we do to get better, what holes can we fill.’ Thankfully, we have some time to figure that out.”
