Warriors 105 - 108 Nuggets summary stats, scores, and highlights | NBA

Update:
Warriors 105 - 108 Nuggets summary stats, scores, and highlights | NBA

The Nuggets defense held strong until the end, but Steph Curry did have a chance to even up the game after Jokic went to the line and missed two late FTs. Curry saw a seam down the middle of the land and had space for a game tying floater but it hit off the back iron and Denver survived a Mile High scare to keep their home record unblemished at 6-0.

as.com

Reggie Jackson was the best Nuggets player not named Nikola Jokic. He went for 20 points and 6 assists in the win over the Warriors and if he continues to play like that, then the Nuggets can afford letting Murray some time to get back to 100%.

as.com

The Warriors took the lead late in the third quarter to set up what would be a back and forth final quarter. Porter Jr. quieted down in the final three quarters after exploding for 10 in the opening 12 minutes but had a big three, his third of the night, early in the fourth quarter. He ended the night with 17 and 8 rebounds.

as.com

Talk as much as you want about Murray and Jokic, but with out Aaron Gordon this team wouldn't have a Larry O'Brien trophy in the cabinet at Ball Arena. He is a mismatch nightmare that can run the pick and roll, get rounds, and hit the occasional three when he is asked to. He had 14 points and 11 rebounds and had a huge hustle play late in the win over the Warriors.

as.com

Jamal Murray will be out "more than one or two games" according to Mike Malone after suffering a hamstring injury over the weekend. That means it's time for Reggie Jackson to step up and fill his void, and he did so on Wednesday night. He had 8 points in the first quarter.

WE ARE UNDERWAY FROM THE MILE HIGH CITY!!!

as.com

Warriors starting five

Draymond Green was listed as questionable and with the induction of Dario Saric in the starting five, we get the indication that the four time champ will not be available tonight against the defending champs. That will leave a big gap down low for the Warriors, and it's going to be up to Saric and Looney to contain Nikola Jokic

as.com

Nuggets starting five

With no Jamal Murray it's going to be up to Reggie Jackson handling the point guard duties. Obviously with Murray out, the Nuggets are going to need to see production raise from guys like Michael Porter Jr. and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

as.com

Nuggets nursing Murray back to health

Who knows what the Nuggets would have been capable of in the season previous to their title run had they been healthy. For the first time in a long time they had Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. fit for the entirety of the season, and look at the result. That will be the priority of this season for Mike Malone and the Nuggets, keeping their stars healthy. Jamal Murray suffered a hamstring injury on Saturday night when they Nuggets played the Bulls, and initial reports said that the injury would keep the Denver PG out for just a few games, but it appears that the Nuggets want to air on the side of caution. This is, according to Mike Malone, “not a one or two game injury” and the Nuggets understandably don’t want to rush their star back to the court before necessary.

Western Conference Standings

Taking a look at the NBA stadings after two weeks we see the Nuggets with the best record in the league at 7-1. They top the Western Conference, and have played two more games than the Celtics and the 76ers coming into Wednesday night. The Warriors have won six of their first eight games, and what makes that so impressive is that six of those games have been played away from the Chase Center. Their only losses came on opening night when they fell to the Phoenix Suns, and the Cavs last week. We are sure to see both of these teams at the top of the Western Conference and battling for the top spot in the playoffs all season long. In a conference as deep as the West, these games between teams at the top are going to make all the difference, which gives you a sense that every game matters even in the long, grueling 82 game NBA schedule.

as.com

Mr. Triple Double in the house

The Nuggets are a team built to go on a run that will put them among the top dynasties in the league. They have a young but mature team that have battled injuries, growing pains and early round eliminations. Now that they have tasted a title, Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray will be licking their lips for a shot at not just another title, but another two or three titles. Jokic is having another fantastic start to the season after a summer of very little, if any, basketball. He is averaging 28.4 points, 12.9 rebound and 8.4 assists. We are used to seeing him flirt with a triple double on each and every night, but his assist numbers have dipped, if only in the slightest. He is and will be the MVP favorite all season, and if he wins it this year, it would be his third in four years.

as.com

Curry has been cookin'

Steph Curry maybe 35 years old, but he has shown no signs of slowing down in his 15th season in the league. He is averaging over 30 points over the first 8 games and is shooting over 50% from the field including 47.5% from downtown. As always he is the focal point of the offense, but the difference between this year and last year is that the the Warriors are healthy coming into the start of the season, and with a base that has been with the team for the last three or four years it doesn’t take long to develop an understanding.

as.com

Warriors last game

This is the final game of the Warriors four game road trip, and they just are coming off of a bounce back win over the Detroit Pistons after losing to the Cavaliers in Cleveland the night before. Steph Curry led the way with 34 point in the win in Detroit, but it was the Warriors big guys who dictated the tone of the game, grabbing 17 offensive rebounds. Despite that, the Piston still led by a point going into the the final quarter, but Chirs Paul and the gang turned things around in the last 12 minutes, and taking the 10 point victory. Paul has been struggling to shoot the ball since joining the Warriors, but he went 6/9 and dished 6 assists in the win.

We are live from Ball Arena

Hello everyone and welcome to Denver where the Nuggets are back home for a third straight game, and carrying the top record in the West into tonight’s game. They have scored 123 points or more in each of their last three games, and tonight’ they welcome a team that knows a thing or to about lighting up the scoreboard. The Golden State Warriors have jumped out to a much more promising start than they have in their last couple seasons, and that only bodes well for Steve Kerr’s guys who will be eyeing the top spot in the West. I know it’s early, but if they are going to think about home court in the playoffs, they are going to have to win these early season battles against teams like the Nuggets.
