What did LeBron James have to say about French sensation Victor Wembanyama?

The anticpation and excitement surrounding the 7-foot-4 star is likely to intensify, now that the Lakers star has weighed in with his honest opinion.

Like the rest of us, the Lakers icon thinks the French prodigy is quite literally from another planet and funnily enough he said as much about the probable No. 1 overall pick for 2023.

LeBron James thinks Victor Wembanyama is an alien

Even before Tuesday night, it was clear that Victor Wembanyama was on everybody’s radar. Yet, few were prepared for the show that the Frenchman put on when his Metro 92 team took on the G-league’s Ignite in Nevada. Wembanyama put 37 points on the board and believe it or not, drained seven 3-pointers. As for defense, the 18-year-old prodigy had five unreal blocks while looking more like a seasoned guard than a 7-foot-4 center. At his point, it would be stating the obvious to say that he’s a cut above the rest, but you don’t have to take it from us as even LeBron James himself weighed in on the teen sensation and possibly gave him a new nickname to boot.

“I think probably the same as everybody else thinks,” James said. “Everybody’s been a unicorn over the last few years, but he’s more like an alien. No one has ever seen anyone as tall as he is but as fluid and graceful as he is on the floor. … He’s for sure a generational talent. Hopefully, he continues to stay healthy. That’s the important thing for him.”

What comes next for Victor Wembanyama?

It goes without saying, that to have arguably the greatest player the NBA has seen since Michael Jordan, compliment your game even before you arrive in the league is a big deal. Even more so, when it’s pretty clear that you’re worth the hype. To be quite frank, James’ extra-terrestrial comment sounds about right to us. The general consensus is that there’s never been anything quite like Wembanyama before. At this point, the only potential obstacle that we can see in his path is just as James said, health. If Wembanyama can stay healthy, it’s all but certain that his skill set will do the rest. As the sure bet to be the 2023 NBA Draft’s No. 1 pick, it’s now just a matter of waiting to see which team lands him and what kind of damage he does for them.
