When will the 2022-23 NBA schedule be released?
Basketball fans around the world are waiting for NBA games to come back in a couple of months, but no one knows exactly when yet.
NBA teams have already released most of their preseason schedules, which will begin in October and will provide an opportunity for franchise’s new signings and rookies to suit up along their new teammates for the first time, but there is nothing like the real thing.
When will the schedule be released?
August is always the month when the NBA schedule is released. First the news insiders get some sneak peeks about marquee matchups and the opening day games, before the NBA unleashes the whole schedule upon fans. One of these NBA insiders, Marc Stein, has revealed that next season’s schedule is not expected to be unveiled until after next week.
This would be in line with last year’s release and means that NBA fans will only have to wait until mid-late August to know their favorite team’s schedule and start planning around it. The only factor that may affect this is all the unsettled pieces in the league as of right now, such as Kevin Durant and his trade request, which some insiders think may delay NBA’s moves.
When was the schedule released last year?
The NBA followed the same scheme in 2021, leaking a few details on Aug. 17 about Opening Day and Christmas, a couple of days before releasing the full schedule.
The schedule release on Aug. 20 gave fans the location and dates for the 82 games of their teams last year, unlike the last couple of seasons, when covid-19 made it more difficult for the league to plan that far ahead.
When did the 2021 NBA season start?
Last year the regular season games started on Oct. 19 and finished on Apr. 10 2022. Looking at the Celtics’ preseason, which runs from Oct. 2 to Oct. 14, it seems like the Opening Day of the season will be very close to last year’s, if not exactly the same one.
