The New York Knicks’ season is hanging by a thread, and the availability of Karl-Anthony Towns – one of their standout performers of the 2024–25 campaign – is still up in the air ahead of Game 5 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals against the Indiana Pacers.

Towns has been listed as questionable for the matchup due to a left knee contusion. The injury occurred late in the fourth quarter of Game 4, when his knee collided with Aaron Nesmith’s with 2:11 remaining. The Pacers forward had driven to the rim, and Towns, trying to protect the paint, took the brunt of the contact.

The Kentucky product managed to finish the game, which head coach Tom Thibodeau described as a positive sign, though the Knicks’ medical team still needs to assess him further. Without Towns, New York’s center rotation would be reduced to just Mitchell Robinson and Precious Achiuwa.

Speaking after the game, Towns declined to answer questions about the severity of his injury, saying he was only focused on the loss and had no room to think about anything else.

Against the Pacers, the Dominican big man has averaged 25.8 points, 11.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 34.3 minutes per game. Across 16 playoff appearances this year, his numbers dip slightly to 21.3 points, 11.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists.
