Arch Manning on transfer decision: “There was nowhere else I want to be...I want to be the QB at the University of Texas”
Any member of the Manning family could easily find a school willing to start them, but Arch decided to wait his turn at Texas.

Arch Manning is the grandson of NFL quarterback legend Archie Manning, son of Cooper Manning, and nephew of NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning and his brother and fellow former NFL quarterback Eli Manning. In other words, he comes from the most famous football family in the country. And in high school, he was a star quarterback for Isidore Newman.
In 2023, he committed to the University of Texas, but was named the third-string QB behind Quinn Ewers and Maalik Murphy. He was redshirted at the end of the season. In 2024, he remained the backup to Ewers, but filled in when he suffered an injury and was named the starter in late September.

Arch Manning’s debut as full-time starter “worth the wait”
While many talented young quarterbacks would transfer to a school that would allow them the opportunity to start sooner, Manning decided to wait it out. And when asked in an interview on Thursday why that is, his answer was simple.
“Sometimes it’s worth the wait,” Manning said. “There was nowhere else I want to be ... I want to be the quarterback a the University of Texas.”
With Ewers entering the 2025 NFL Draft, Manning will finally get his shot as the full-time starting quarterback for Texas. In the 2024 season, he played significant snaps and had two starts, completing 61 of 90 passes for 939 yards and nine touchdowns and two interceptions, plus rushing for 108 yards and four more touchdowns. He is already expected to be a top pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
