Update:

Iowa Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark has been setting records all season and it was no different in the NCAA Championship.

Just in the first quarter, Clark put up 18 points. That alone broke the record for most points scored in a single quarter of a championship game. Thanks to a deep three-pointer bucket thrown in the final seconds, Clark also broke another scoring record.

That brought Clark to 480 career points scored in the NCAA tournament, beating Chamique Holdsclaw’s previous record of 479 points. That’s a record that hadn’t been broken since the 90′s. Considering she was just 17 points away from breaking the record and is averaging 31.7 points a game this season, it’s no surprise she broke the record, nor that she did it so fast.

Earlier in the season, Clark became the all-time leading scorer (for both men and women) in the NCAA and won National Player of the Year for the second straight year.
