EKU’s Marquae Kirkendoll was arrested and charged but what did he do?

With four charges being brought against him, including robbery, the question as to what the future holds for the young corner back remains unanswered.

Having now been taken into custody, the promising defensive back is potentially in some serious trouble as he must answer to charges of armed robbery.

EKU’s Marquae Kirkendoll charged with robbery of US Postal worker

According to reports this week, Eastern Kentucky University’s defensive back Marquae Kirkendoll is facing federal charges for allegedly robbing a postal worker in New Mexico. As per court documents, Kirkendoll allegedly stole a key from a postal worker back on January 18th in New Mexico. It is understood, that the key in question can be used to open locks on postal service items such as mail bags and lock boxes. Kirkendoll, who actually used to play for the University of New Mexico, is said to be facing four charges, including robbery of a postal worker. Kirkendoll was taken into custody Wednesday.

Additionally, there are also charges which have been brought against another former UNM player, Rayshawn Boyce. Indeed, Boyce who was arrested back in February is understood to have been an accomplice to the crime and faces the additional charge of knowingly possessing a firearm after being convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence. Documents indicated that Boyce brandished the weapon during the robbery.

What was EKU’s response to Marquae Kirkendoll’s arrest?

Speaking on the situation, Rixon Lane, director of athletics communications for EKU, disclosed that Kirkendoll was immediately suspended from the team when the athletics department learned of the situation on Wednesday afternoon. Accordingly, Kirkendoll’s suspension is indefinite as the legal process is yet to run its course according to Lane.

Who is Marquae Kirkendoll

At 6-foot and 184-pounds Kirkendoll, who was born in Chicago, showed himself to be a decent talent on the defensive line. Across two seasons he played in 16 games for New Mexico before transferring to EKU during the offseason. Interestingly, he announced his commitment to EKU just days before the incident in which he is now implicated took place. As for what happens to Marquae Kirkendoll now? All we can do is sit and wait for justice to be served.
