The start of the year brings with it a celebration of College Football, with huge games coming and going along with the cold weather. Sport does not stop for anyone or anything, not even Christmas and New Year’s Eve, which is good news for those who like to keep warm inside with some sporting action.
The first round of the College Football Playoffs has already concluded, with 8 teams battling it out for the top honour. Here are all the results so far, followed by the upcoming games (remembering that some teams received byes into the quarterfinals):

Friday, Dec. 20
- Game 1: No. 7 Notre Dame def. No. 10 Indiana, 27-17
Saturday, Dec. 21
- Game 2: No. 6 Penn State def. No. 11 SMU, 38-10
- Game 3: No. 5 Texas def. No. 12 Clemson, 38-24
- Game 4: No. 8 Ohio State def. No. 9 Tennessee, 42-17
College Football Playoff quarterfinals:
Tuesday, Dec. 31
- Fiesta Bowl (State Farm Stadium): No. 6 Penn State def. No. 3 Boise State, 31-14

Wednesday, Jan. 1
The College Football Playoff (CFP) semifinals will take place on January 9 and 10. The Orange Bowl, featuring the Fiesta Bowl winner against the Sugar Bowl winner, is scheduled for Thursday, January 9, at 7:30 p.m. ET at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
The Cotton Bowl, pitting the Peach Bowl winner against the Rose Bowl winner, will follow on Friday, January 10, at 7:30 p.m. ET at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The CFP National Championship will occur on Monday, January 20, at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, with coverage on ESPN.
