Vanessa Bryant’s sad, emotional statement after Huskies’ big NCAA 2025 win
As the University of Connecticut Huskies were crowned 2025 NCAA champions, Vanessa Bryant remembered her daughter, Gigi.

Vanessa Bryant paid a touching tribute to her late daughter Gigi following the University of Connecticut Huskies’ 82-59 triumph over the South Carolina Gamecocks in Sunday’s Championship game in Tampa.
With that, UConn secured their 12th national title - despite going into the game as underdogs. Sarah Strong finished the game with a double-double, 24 points and 15 rebounds, just ahead of Azzi Fudd with 24 points and five rebounds and projected 2025 WNBA Draft No. 1 pick Paige Bueckers, who ended on 17 points and six rebounds.

Gigi Bryant, an admirer of UConn
Vanessa took to social media to congratulate the team and head coach Geno Auriemma. She also mentioned her late daughter Gianna, who dreamed of one day playing for UConn.
Gianna, who died beside her father Kobe, in a tragic helicopter accident in January 2020, would be 18 years old today and as a talented basketball player - almost certainly involved in March Madness.
“Gigi would’ve loved being there with you.”
