Every school is looking for an elite-level coach to take their football program to the summit. And there are always a list, albeit quite a short one, of top-flight coaches on the market.

One of the names consistently on that list is Urban Meyer. A truly remarkable strategist, Meyer has won bowl games and national championships at three different universities. And while his brief stint in the NFL is remembered as a flop, there is no doubt that under the right circumstances, he is capable of squeezing greatness out of any football team.

When asked about this back in April, Meyer was adamant that his coaching days are behind him. “That book is closed,” said Meyer. Referring to his current work as a tv commentator for Fox Sports, Meyer said that the only things in his future were “TV and grandfather.”

Prior to his national-title runs at Florida (2005-10) and Ohio State (2012-18), Meyer led Utah to a stunning 2004 Fiesta Bowl win following a successful stint at Bowling Green.

As a college coach, Meyer is 187-32, although his 2-11 NFL record is what many remember. He joined FOX Sports as a college football TV analyst and is adamant that his future lies there.

However, Meyer had previously referred to the head coaching job at Notre Dame as his dream position, so there is some speculation that if the right school made the call, Urban Meyer may just answer.
