A journalist, soccer fanatic and Shrewsbury Town fan, Will’s love for the game has withstood countless playoff final losses. After graduating from the University of Liverpool he wrote for a number of British publications before joining AS USA in 2020. His work focuses on the Premier League, LaLiga, MLS, Liga MX and the global game.
Update:

Olivier Rioux debuted for the Florida Gators last month and the 7ft 9in sensational is already making waves in the world of NCAA basketball.

The 19-year-old Canadian has made history as the tallest scorer in college basketball, dunking late on in a 102-61 win over Saint Francis on Wednesday. Rioux became the tallest college basketball player ever when he came off the bench for the Gators.

“Pretty special, man,” Gators coach Todd Golden said of the young center. “The transition, his vertical. Woo. He was up there, man.”

In 2021 he was declared the world’s tallest teenager by Guinness World Records. At that point, he stood 7ft 5in tall.

Little has been seen from Rioux as he takes his first steps into college basketball. At 7ft 9in he would tower over the NBA’s tallest player, currently listed as the 7ft 4in Victor Wembanyama.

The tallest players in NBA history are Manute Bol and Gheorghe Muresan, both were measured at 7ft 7in during their playing careers.
