Hansi Flick on Lamine Yamal injury: “We have to accept it”
The Barcelona head coach was pressed on a suspected hamstring injury to Yamal during a victory over Celta Vigo.

Barcelona are facing the prospect of losing Lamine Yamal during a key stretch of the season after the young star suffered a suspected hamstring injury on Wednesday night.
Taking on Celta Vigo in LaLiga, Yamal converted a first-half penalty but pulled up immediately after. The Barcelona medical team were quickly out to attend to the 18-year-old but he was unable to continue, trudging off the field on the stroke of halftime.
Speaking after the game, Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick said: “We’ll have to check on Lamine tomorrow; we’ll see. We have to accept it; it’s a shame for us. I hope it’s not too serious.”

He continued: “I think there’s an injury, but we’ll have to wait to see how long he’ll be out. I can’t say anything else. We have to wait. As a coach, you have to manage these things.”
“It’s a shame that Lamine got injured now, but I’m also thinking about Raphinha, [Marc] Bernal, [Andreas] Christensen... Now we have to focus on Getafe. I wouldn’t say I’m upset, I’m thinking about a lot of things. We fought hard.”
With a nine-point lead at the top of the LaLiga table, Yamal’s absence may not make too much different to Barcelona’s 2025/26 season. However the big concern in Spain will be Yamal’s status for this summer’s World Cup, which is now less than 50 days away.
A torn hamstring could see Yamal sidelined for up to two months, which could put his place at the World Cup in serious jeopardy. The club has said that proper assessments will be carried out on Thursday as they look to judge the extent of the injury. For now, soccer fans around the world will be holding their breathe.
