Aaron Rodgers “feeling great” after posting first win with the New York Jets
The veteran quarterback led the Jets to a 24-17 victory over the Titans in Week 2 of the NFL. Technically, it was his first win with the franchise since his move from the Packers in 2022.
All eyes have been on Aaron Rodgers’ return at the start of the new NFL season. The veteran quarterback spent a year on the sidelines recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon - an injury which spoiled his debut for the New York Jets against the Bills at the start of last season’s campaign.
Aaron Rodgers back in business with the Jets
He was back for the opening game of the 2024 season but the team crashed to a 32-19 defeat to the San Francisco 49ers on the first Monday Night Football of the season.
This week, he was finally able to savor his first win with the Jets.
In Week 2, Rodgers led the team to its first victory of the new campaign and his first win as a quarterback in a complete game, as the Jets scored a 24-17 the triumph over the Tennessee Titans at Nissan stadium.
“It feels great. The win was a long time coming,” Rodgers said after the game.
He also joked that this was “technically the second win”, even though last season’s came in just four plays.
Great feeling to be back winning
“Technically, my second win. In a way, the first one counts, four big plays...” he joked. “It feels great. It’s been a long time coming. I was just telling Evan [Ardoin] in the post-game, on the field, and I hadn’t had that in a long time. Being able to have that interview onfield after the game means you won, that you played halfway decent. These are the games you look back on late in the season, thankful that you won”.
Rodgers completed 18 of 30 passes for 176 yards with two touchdowns and the team is developing a growing understanding and rhythm.
“These are important games late in the season when you’re trying to get in the playoffs,” Rodgers concluded. “It was a hot day, short week, very good defense, started off slow. Finding a way to win, that’s what really good teams do.
“Great teams, when you’re up 14-10, you block a punt, you score a touchdown to go up two scores. We’re not quite there yet but good teams can close out games in tough environments, and we’ll be really thankful for this one down the road.”
