Update:

One of the most fascinating storylines of the 2025 NFL offseason has centered around the fate of Aaron Rodgers, the veteran quarterback who is still without a team.

The 41-year-old left the New York Jets at the end of the 2024 season and has indicated that he wants one more crack at a championship. The four-time NFL Most Valuable Player only has one Super Bowl title to his name.

A number of potential landing spots have come and gone, leaving Rodgers uncertain about his future. But despite that lack of clarity it hasn’t stopped Rodgers from speculating publicly about his future.

He recently took part in a Q&A with rapper Mike Stoud and was asked whether he would ever join the Chicago Bears, the rivals of Rodgers’ former team Green Bay Packers. His answer gave the clearest hint yet of his plans.

No, but I believe there’s a team that might play in Chicago this year on a road trip,” Rodgers replied. “I don’t know, not sure. Got to check it out. I love Chicago, though. Way more than they love me. It’s been a great relationship. All one way.”

NFL fans immediately scoured the Bears’ 2025 schedule to see who Rodgers may be referring to, and many came up with one name: the Pittsburgh Steelers, who travel to Chicago in Week 12 on November 23.

Of course this is not the first time that Rodgers has been linked with the Steelers. Throughout the offseason, Pittsburgh has been forwarded as a potential option and Rodgers’ latest comments seem to confirm that.

However the Steelers are one of eight teams that will travel to Chicago this year. Here’s the full list: Minnesota Vikings, Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions.

For now, however, there has been no official news and both parties seem in no rush to conclude the talks. Back in March Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin insisted that there is no deadline on the talks with Rodgers, suggesting that this saga could still have a few more weeks to run.
