Are Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes friends? The truth about their relationship

Taylor Swift has become the Kansas City Chiefs' most famous fan since getting together with Travis Kelce before the start of the 2023 NFL season. Their love story, and the pop superstar’s effect on the popularity of the NFL, became the main subplots of the Chiefs' winning run in Super Bowl LVIII.

There appeared to be a camera pointing directly at Swift at all times at luxury suites at Arrowhead Stadium and across the United States, where she was often spotted with Donna Kelce, her boyfriend’s mum, and Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick.

Swift and Mahomes may have been pushed together in somewhat unorthodox circumstances, but the pair certainly seem to have hit it off, despite their apparent political disagreement.

Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes friendship: a timeline

The first public example of their burgeoning friendship came at Arrowhead in October 2023, when the Chiefs were taking on the Denver Broncos in a regular season game. While much of the attention was on Swift’s interactions with her potential mother-in-law (are we jumping the gun?), her closeness to Mahomes also caught the eye.

The duo cheered on the Chief side by side and celebrated a number of major plays by hugging each other tightly.

It was later revealed that Mahomes had previously joined Swift and other celebrity friends, including Blake Lively and Sophie Turner, at a dinner in New York City at the end of September.

With Swift on hiatus from The Eras Tour, the social gatherings followed thick and fast, with Mahomes sharing a post on Instagram from another NYC outing in November, with Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid and Cara Delevigne also invited on that occasion.

Swift leans on Mahomes in hard times

More recently, a conversation between Swift, Mahomes and Donna Kelce was captured on camera following the Chiefs’ AFC Championship victory against the Buffalo Bills on January 26 this year, which the pop superstar was clearly nervous about.

“Oh my god. You kept me so calm the last couple weeks,” Swift told Mahomes after their brief rendition of KC and The Sunshine Band’s “Get Down Tonight”.

The pop superstar then turned to Kelce: “I just did not know what to do, and I would just text Brittany and be like, ‘Tell me it’s going to be OK.’”

As far as the off-field action is concerned, all eyes will again be on Swift, and Mahomes, at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday (February 9) as the Chiefs aim for a historic ‘three-peat’ against the Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl LIX.

Will the Chiefs seen as the favorites to win again, more hugging, kissing and PDAs are expected, and we may even get to see Swift and Mahomes' special handshake in action again too.
