The Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Bears will play in their final preseason game on Thursday night. Kickoff is at 8:20 p.m. ET from Arrowhead Stadium. Though both teams are planning to sit their starters, this game is important as the NFL will require all teams to have their rosters down to 53 by Tuesday afternoon. That means this game could decide the future of several Chiefs and Bears players.

The Chiefs are hoping to continue with the dominant defense they had last season, but injuries have made it difficult to assess some of the rookies. In fact, the same can be said of the Bears, who may have just had to sideline one of their potential starting edge rushers.

Here is the injury report for the Bears and Chiefs heading into their NFL preseason finale tonight.

Kansas City Chiefs Injury Report

The Chiefs are dealing with a few concerning injuries. Wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown was injured in the preseason opener with a sternoclavicul injury that is keeping him out for at least four to six weeks. He was one of their most important offseason acquisitions so it’s a big loss to not have him on the field. He should be back around Week 2 of the regular season.

Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire is dealing with post traumatic stress disorder. Helaire is likely to be the RB2 for the Chiefs behind Isiah Pacheco. Edwards-Helaire has missed several training camp practices and the last preseason game against the Lions because of it. He’s listed as having an illness on the official injury report.

Perhaps the most frustrating is the injuries on the defense, as it’s making it difficult for the Chiefs to know who to cut and who to keep and how to deal with the depth at these positions. Cornerback Joshua Williams is competing to be a starter, but missed Tuesday’s practice with a hamstring injury. Defensive tackle Chris Jones has been dealing with a shoulder injury since early this month and hasn’t yet played in the preseason.

Chicago Bears Injury Report

Defensive tackle Zacch Pickens had to miss Tuesday and Wednesday’s practices, but is not listed on the official injury report, though defensive coordinator Eric Washington has said his status for Week 1 of the regular season is still uncertain. Other than that, the Bears have only a few injuries on their official report.

  • S Kevin Byard III (soft-tissue injury), Questionable
