Brock Purdy’s wife “annoyed” at his first big purchase after $265M deal

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy recently became one of the richest players in the NFL. His new deal, a five-year, $265 million contract with $181 million guaranteed, has him making an average annual salary of $53 million.

Purdy’s underdog story is incredible as he went from “Mr. Irrelevant” - the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft - to a franchise quarterback earning more than Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts.

So, what’s Purdy going to do with all that newfound money? He said he and his wife have some ideas, but his first big purchase will be something that “annoys” his wife - a bass boat.

“I’ve always been a big fishing advocate, so I was telling my wife, and she’s annoyed with me, but I’ll say it, I’d like to get a bass boat some day. So, that’ll be my first big purchase,” Purdy said with a laugh.

Purdy began as a third-string quarterback with a modest salary (by NFL standards) to the Niners’ QB1, leading them to back-to-back deep playoff runs in the last two seasons.

His new deal shows the faith the 49ers have in their quarterback, and his first big purchase, rather than being a luxury car or a mansion, shows that he’s still staying humble and true to himself.
