Micah Parsons is scheduled for an MRI on his left ankle this Friday after leaving the field with an injury during the Dallas Cowboys’ 20-15 victory over the New York Giants, which happened with just 3:30 remaining in the game.

Right now, I just iced it. I know very little. I’ve got an MRI [Friday], and I’m going to try to get back next week”, was all Parsons said after the game, leading to huge speculation as to the extent of the physical issue.

And the injury news did not stop there. While Parsons did reveal that the X-rays taken inside MetLife Stadium were negative, it was not the end of the story: DeMarcus Lawrence suffered a right foot injury in the third quarter and also did not return to the field after being taken off by medical staff. He is set to undergo an MRI scan before the start of the weekend.

Prescott hopes Parsons injury ‘not anything serious’

After the tie, team quarterback Dak Prescott spoke highly of his colleague, calling Parsons “a helluva player, a big-time playmaker”.

At the time of writing, nothing is confirmed as to the extent of the issue, although some reports believe a sprain to be the closest estimate of what Parsons has suffered. As for a return, it all depends on the diagnosis: he could be back next week against the Steelers or some time in the recovery room may be on the agenda.

“I’m not watching a lot, but [he] made a huge run stop right there on one of those last possessions”, Prescott added. “And then honestly, I’m just hoping it’s not anything serious. There’s not a lot of doubts or negative thoughts that go through my head, so, yeah, I didn’t even want to think anything major. Hoping that my thoughts are right and it’s something small. He looked in good spirits, so I’m in good spirits. We’re in good spirits”, he concluded.

As for the game, it was another strong showing from the Cowboys in the NFL, who managed to grab a solid victory away from home at a tough place to play. This was something that coach Mike McCarthy was particularly impressed by, saying that “winning is always a great thing, especially on the road. Road wins are the best. Division games, you can add another layer to it. So, yeah, we feel great about what we accomplished, but I think it’s the fourth week in a row we realise we have a lot of work to do.”

Adding to his coach’s words, Prescott admitted that after the injury, getting the win was “huge, especially when you compare it to the alternative. What that would have been like, it was huge. Just allows to build momentum. Played on a bunch of different teams and some that when you got going, it just gets hot. And that’s what we’re looking to do. That’s what it’s about in this league is getting hot at the right time, building. That why I said it’s about the process. Trusting the process no matter the results.”
