Update:

Is this the winds of offseason silence stirring up the dust or is there really no smoke without fire?

Miami Dolphins icon Tyreek Hill has been recently linked to various teams across the NFL, sparking concern amongst fans that they could see their star player depart.

Hill requested a trade at the end of the 2024 season, almost causing a Y2K internet collapse. Alas, neither came to pass, and we all moved on with our lives.

But this is the NFL, and it’s June: links between players and franchises are as common as a Trump television fumble and this time, Hill is back on the front pages.

‘Who knows? We’ll consider it’

As reported by Yahoo Sports, the Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers are “singled out as teams who should consider sending the Miami Dolphins an offer after comments like “That’s not anything that we’re pursuing. Who knows? If someone wants to come and give me two first-round picks, we’ll consider it” came from Dolphins general manager Chris Grier.

NBC Sports’ Mike Florio said that Bills, 49ers, Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans or Los Angeles Chargers should all try for the 31-year-old.

What about the numbers? Well, given that Hill is still on Miami’s roster past June 1, his 2025 dead cap hit lessens to just $12.728 million, with the rest of his $28 million fully guaranteed salary affecting 2026.

In 2024, Hill played 17 games and racked up 959 yards on 81 catches and six touchdowns, the lowest numbers he’s managed since 2019. Perhaps this is why we have smoke, but no smoking gun.

On top of that, Hill’s personality could sway teams away: since moving to Miami, Hill has been at the center of several public controversies. Most notably, he faced multiple paternity lawsuits around the time he married Vaccaro and was pulled over and briefly detained by police just hours before the Dolphins’ 2024 Week 1 game.
