Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel shakes off criticism of last season: “I’m much more concerned with 2025”

Update:

Mike McDaniel isn’t interested in re-litigating the Miami Dolphins’ disappointing 8-9 campaign in 2024. You can bring up the culture concerns, the injuries, the underwhelming road record, or even Bradley Chubb’s blunt admission that “we were lying” about buying in last year. McDaniel’s response? Look ahead.

McDaniel only has eyes for Dolphins 2025

“It would have been awesome if he would have told me on the front end when they were lying,” McDaniel said with a smirk this week. “I’m much more concerned with 2025.”

It’s the clearest signal yet that McDaniel – who let’s not forget led Miami to back-to-back playoff appearances before last season’s collapse – is done playing the blame game. And he wants the locker room to be done with it too.

The culture reset the Dolphins loudly marketed last offseason never really took hold. Key players like Chubb, Terron Armstead, and Tua Tagovailoa missed time. The offense dropped from No. 1 in yards to No. 18. And wideout Tyreek Hill, frustrated and banged up, didn’t even finish the final game.

Still, Chubb, now healthy, says the difference this year is real. “It’s not about [McDaniel] changing,” Chubb said. “It’s about us buying in.”
