Eagles captain Lane Johnson clears up retirement rumors
The Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman just finished his 12th season and won his second Super Bowl with his team, so rumors swirled that he may be done.

The Philadelphia Eagles are officially Super Bowl champions after defeating the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 on Sunday at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. The Eagles were dominant all game, cruising to a victory that they made look easy in the Big Easy.
Offensive tackle and Eagles team captain Lane Johnson was rumored to have been playing in the last game of his NFL career, considering he’s been on the team for 12 full seasons now. And what better way to end it than with a Super Bowl victory?
Lane Johsnon on NFL retirement
Johnson, however, shot down retirement rumors real fast after the Eagles beat the Chiefs.
“I’m not retiring,” said Johnson.

Well...that makes it pretty clear, I’d say. Johnson has now claimed two Super Bowl rings with the Eagles after playing on the team in 2018, when they beat Tom Brady’s New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII.

While the Eagles offense was able to put up 40 points on the Chiefs on Sunday, Johnson gave credit to their defense as well for “making it easy” for them, as they held Kansas City to no scores through nearly three full quarters. He also praised Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, who put up two passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown in the victory.
“I was really happy with how our defense responded. Really made it easy for us,” said Johnson. “Kansas City did a good job of stopping our run game, but Jalen [Hurts] made it work today. Crazy.”
