Fans in disarray as Browns RB undergoes surgery on broken leg
The rookie running back has undergone surgery on a broken leg.
Cleveland Browns fans are hiding their faces behind their interlocked fingers this Christmas as they come to terms with the news that rookie running back Quinshon Judkins has undergone surgery following scans showing he had suffered a broken leg in a recent game.
The second-year pro, who emerged as one of Cleveland’s most dynamic offensive weapons, will finish 2025 on injured reserve as he begins a lengthy rehabilitation process.
The 22-year-old went down in the game against the Buffalo Bills after a strong tackle from linebacker Matt Milano. Upon seeing the player collapse to the ground, fans and players gasped in horror. The injury, a fractured fibula and a dislocated ankle, was so graphic that the broadcast partners who had the television rights for the game decided not to show a replay of the incident; he was subsequently carried off the field on a stretcher.
The Browns went on to lose the game 23-20.
Before the injury, Judkins was building momentum in his rookie campaign. A second-round draft pick out of Ohio State, he finished the game with 51 yards from scrimmage and ended the season just two yards shy of 1,000 total yards, including 827 on the ground and 171 through the air, along with seven rushing touchdowns in 14 starts.
Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski expressed disappointment in the immediate aftermath, saying: “Obviously, very disappointing for the young man. He will bounce back, I have zero doubt about that. You never want to see that with one of your guys. He will get surgery and he will be back in no time. I know that.”
