George Kittle warns rest of NFL teams “violence in coming”

Update:

It was a season to forget in San Francisco. For the first time in a long time the Niners weren’t contenders in the NFC, in fact they weren’t even close to being relevant. So what did they do? They brought back a familiar face that will bring some of that Niners identity back to the Bay.

Saleh back in the Bay

Former New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh was brought back to San Francisco to be the defensive coordinator a few season after he left the Niners for New York. Things didn’t go his way in the Big Apple for a number of reasons, mostly because of their struggles on offense.

First it was Zach Wilson, who the Jets spent a high draft pick on with hopes he’d be the quarterback of the future. That was far from the case, and after a three years with the Jets, he is now out of New York. Then Aaron Rodgers came to bring the Jets back to the top of the NFL, but an achilles injury on his debut kept him out the entire season. Last year Rodgers was available but the offense was still pitiful.

It ended up costing Robert Saleh his job in New York. He was fired in early October, after the team started the year 2-3. He spent the rest of the year as an offensive consultant for the Green Bay Packers, but he is now back in the Bay where he knows everybody, and everybody knows him.

Kittle sends warning to rest of league

To say there is excitement surrounding the return of Saleh in the Bay would be an understatement. The Niners defense was one of the best in the league with Saleh at the helm. I’ll spare you the stats, but I will say the Niners got to the Super Bowl with Jimmy Garoppolo as their QB and with no Christian McCaffery at the time.

Niners tight end George Kittle stopped by The Rich Eisen Show to talk about the upcoming season, and when Saleh’s name was mentioned, all the tight end could say is “Violence is coming is what I would say.”

The Niners lost a few big names on the defensive end including Talana Hufanga, Charvarius Ward and Dre Greenlaw. While there are some holes to plug, Saleh is going to have plenty of weapons at his disposal and unlike in New York, he is going to have a fantastic offense to help take some of the pressure off his defense.

“He’s really good at his job, and I’m really excited that we somehow convinced him to be our defensive coordinator again,” Kittle said. “He knows what he’s talking about, he’s inspiring, he gets the boys fired up, and he just happens to also be really, really smart. So, I’m pumped to have him back in the building, just hanging out with him a little bit, talking about stuff. You can just tell he’s ready to roll this year, and he’s gonna get the boys fired up.”
