How many people watch the Christmas Day NFL games on Netflix?
A partnership between Netflix and the NFL helped the streaming platform smash live event audience records in 2024.
December 25, 2025 was a particularly special day for the NFL, partnering with Netflix to bring football to millions of households around the world.
The ground-breaking collaboration between a sports league and streaming platform was a resounding success, with the highlight being the highly anticipated Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburgh Steelers game held at Acrisure Stadium in the ‘City of Bridges.’
According to statistics provided by Netflix and NFL Media, viewers from more than 200 countries tuned in at some point to watch the Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, face off against the Steelers.
NFL breaks records with Netflix
That 2024 matchup has since become the second most popular live event ever streamed on Netflix. Additionally, nearly one-third of Netflix’s global audience tuned in to the game, contributing to the platform surpassing its previous peak for simultaneous Christmas viewership in the past four years.
One of the standout moments of the NFL-Netflix partnership was the special introduction for the Christmas Day game. The broadcast began with the message: “Netflix welcomes you to a special presentation of the National Football League Christmas Day.”
This was immediately followed by Mariah Carey performing her holiday classic, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” accompanied by highlights from past Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers games. The other Netflix Christmas Day game for 2024 saw the Baltimore Ravens taking on the Houston Texans. The Ravens secured a decisive 31-2 win while Beyoncé delivered an electrifying halftime show in her hometown of Houston, captivating millions of viewers worldwide.
The 2025 Netflix games will see the Cowboys taking on the Commanders at Northwest Stadium (1pm ET), followed by the Lions against the Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium (4:30pm ET). Both games will be available worldwide on all tiers of Netflix plans.
