How much is Peacock paying for the exclusive rights to NFL playoff games?
For the first time, the NFL has decided to stream one of its playoff games exclusively, marking its entry into the industry.
Over the past few seasons, the league has been heavily invested in streaming games, although it has been exploring this option for almost a decade. Last season, Amazon Prime Video became the only platform to stream “Thursday Night Football,” while ESPN has been streaming one international game per season on ESPN+ since 2021.
The NFL and NBCUniversal have recently announced they will invest more in streaming NFL games. As part of this move, they have revealed that the Saturday night game on Wild Card weekend will be available on Peacock.
The game’s broadcasting will take place on NBC stations in the markets of both teams. The NFL+ package will also allow users to access it on their mobile devices. After a late afternoon playoff game, the game will start at 4:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcasted on NBC and Peacock.
But how much is Peacock paying for the exclusive rights to the NFL?
Although the deal’s terms weren’t made public, those familiar with these kinds of negotiations claim that this one is near the $110 million.
As part of the NFL’s 11-year agreement with NBCUniversal that kicked off this season, Peacock has secured exclusive rights to broadcast a regular-season game; this will be the Buffalo Bills as they set to play against the Los Angeles Chargers.
