How the Dallas Cowboys are the best AND worst at home in the NFL

Despite not winning a game at AT&T Stadium so far in the 2024 season, America’s Team can look at one positive at home.

The Dallas Cowboys (4-7) pulled off one of the surprises of Week 12 by defeating the Washington Commanders on the road in a dramatic finish. Their next matchup is against the New York Giants at AT&T Stadium as part of the Thanksgiving Day slate.

Home support despite AT&T woes

Playing at home has not brought much joy for the Cowboys. Mike McCarthy’s team has lost all five games played so far at the venue located at 1 AT&T Way. “America’s Team” has been defeated by the New Orleans Saints, Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, and Atlanta Falcons.

Despite their poor home record, the Cowboys lead the league in attendance. AT&T Stadium has hosted 467,514 fans over the first five home games of the year, averaging 93,502 per game. While the stadium has a regular capacity of 80,000, it can be configured to accommodate up to 100,000 fans per game.

The most attended game was Week 2 against the Saints, where 93,691 fans witnessed the Cowboys suffer a crushing defeat. Games against the Lions and Eagles each drew 93,644 attendees, while the Week 3 matchup against the Ravens had 93,566. The lowest-attended home game was against the Texans, still with 92,969 fans in the stands.

Cowboys fill rival stadiums

Even without consistent success, the Cowboys remain one of the most sought-after teams to watch, with tickets selling out almost immediately. Huntington Bank Field, which has a capacity of 67,431, was packed for the Week 1 matchup between Cleveland and Dallas.

It doesn’t matter if the games are on the East Coast of the United States – America’s Team fills every stadium. At Acrisure Stadium, home of the Steelers, which holds 68,400 fans, even a Sunday night thunderstorm couldn’t stop 67,380 attendees from watching Dak Prescott secure a last-minute victory.

Levi’s Stadium typically holds 68,500 fans but can expand to 75,000. When the Cowboys played there, the 49ers drew a crowd of 71,521. Similarly, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons, which also has an expanded capacity of 75,000, hosted 72,665 fans for its matchup against Dallas.
