Jaire Alexander turned down lucrative deals to play with Ravens for $6 million instead
The Packers’ loss is the Ravens’ gain after quarterback Lamar Jackson urged Baltimore to sign his college teammate, cornerback Jaire Alexander.

Last week, the Green Bay Packers cut cornerback Jaire Alexander after seven seasons when they failed to come to an agreement on a contract extension. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, who played college ball with Alexander at Louisville, publicly urged the team to sign him, and they listened.
Lamar Jackson gets his wish: Ravens sign Jaire Alexander
Just one day after Jackson’s request, the Ravens made it happen, signing Alexander to a one-year deal worth $4 million (plus $2M in incentives). According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the two-time Pro Bowler turned down more money elsewhere to reunite with Jackson in Baltimore.

Alexander, 28, joins a strong Ravens secondary featuring Marlon Humphrey and Nate Wiggins, and is expected to start on the outside. Despite recent injury struggles, Alexander remains one of the league’s top corners, with Pro Football Focus ranking him 9th heading into 2025. His elite coverage skills add depth and flexibility to the Ravens’ defense under coordinator Zach Orr.
Jackson was thrilled about the move, having lobbied general manager Eric DeCosta directly: “Go get him, Eric.”
