Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s contract details: What is the Seahawks WR’s salary and how many years are left?

Having enjoyed a breakout season in 2025, Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba is now preparing for the first Super Bowl appearance of his NFL career - a moment he says he has “envisioned for a very, very long time”.

And, beyond Sunday’s NFL title clash with the New England Patriots, it appears the 23-year-old can also look forward to a significant bump in pay.

Smith-Njigba’s five-star 2025

Now in his third year in the NFL, Smith-Njigba led the league in receiving yards in the 2025 regular season, amassing 1,793 from 119 receptions, for 10 touchdowns.

In the playoffs, he then starred in last month’s NFC Championship Game against the Los Angeles Rams, receiving for 153 yards and one TD from 10 catches, as Seattle booked its Super Bowl spot with a 31-27 win.

“It’s a blessing. I don’t take it for granted,” Smith-Njigba told reporters this week, as he looked ahead to Super Bowl LX. “A lot of great players, great Hall of Fame players, don’t get to be able to be up on this stage, so for me to be able to do it at 23 is a blessing, and I give the glory to God and I’m going to take full advantage of this moment.”

The former Ohio State Buckeye, who was a first-round draft pick for Seattle in 2023, added: “I envisioned this for a very, very long time, so it feels like I’ve kind of been here before but it’s just awesome living out the dream.”

Meanwhile, Smith-Njigba’s head coach, Mike Macdonald, summed up the wide receiver’s attacking potency when he was asked how he would set up a defense to deal with the Texas native. “Can I put three guys on him?” quipped Macdonald, who has previously lauded Smith-Njigba as “a massive piece of what we’re trying to do offensively”.

How much does Smith-Njigba earn at the Seahawks?

Currently, Smith-Njigba’s average annual salary places him down in 57th in the NFL among wide receivers, per a ranking by the sports-finance specialists Spotrac.

When he joined the Seahawks in 2023, Smith-Njigba signed a four-year rookie contract through the 2026 season. The deal is worth just over $14.4 million in guaranteed money, with an average annual salary of around $3.6 million.

According to a breakdown by Spotrac, the receiver’s guaranteed earnings include a signing bonus of just under $7.5 million, a combined $960,000 in further bonuses in 2024 and 2025, plus the following base salary:

• 2023: $750,000
• 2024: $955,000
• 2025: $1.55 million
• 2026: $2.72 million

However, Smith-Njigba’s lowly average-salary ranking is set to change dramatically.

As a first-round draft pick, his rookie contract includes a fifth-year team option, which is now projected to be worth $25 million to the WR. As is explained by the NFL contract experts Over the Cap, the player’s 2025 Pro Bowl selection has pushed that fifth-year figure up by $7 million.

Furthermore, Smith-Njigba becomes eligible for a contract extension during the 2026 off season. And as part of a potential new deal, he is being tipped to net a pay rise that places him in the same bracket as the NFL’s top-earning WR: the Cincinnati Bengals’ Ja’Marr Chase, who is on an average of $40.25 million per year.

Spotrac currently estimates Smith-Njigba’s extension value at $37.7 million a year, just behind the Rams’ fellow breakout WR, Puka Nacua, who is priced at $38.5 million.

That solitary win came in 2013, in a 43-8 demolition of the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII. Either side of that Lombardi Trophy triumph, Seattle was beaten by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2005, and by the Patriots in 2014.
