Update:

Former NFL guard Jeff Allen was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He started as a rookie, playing primarily at left guard. He stayed with the Chiefs for four seasons before moving on to an injury-riddled stint with the Houston Texans. He returned to the Chiefs in 2019 and although he wasn’t on the active roster, he still received a ring for their Super Bowl LIV victory.

Now, he’s defending Chiefs head coach Andy Reid as the greatest of all time - even above Bill Belichick.

Jeff Allen takes Reid over Belichick as the coaching GOAT

Allen was interviewed on the “NFL Players Second Acts” podcast and reflected on his time playing under Andy Reid. Host Roman Harper asked him where he would rank Reid on his list of all-time head coaches and Allen had some good points for ranking him at the very top.

“I think Belichick, obviously, what he did in New England speaks volumes, and everyone puts him...at the top,” said Allen. “But Andy’s done it in many different ways...several teams and a lot of different quarterbacks.”

“I don’t think Bill ever had the opportunity to do that,” Allen went on. “He had so long with Tom Brady. He never really had the opportunity to do it with a lot of quarterbacks because he had such a great one for so long.”

Allen then reflected on Reid’s incredible leadership abilities, noting that he is “open to feedback from coaches and players” and always improving.

“He’s old school, but he’s also a player’s coach and he cares about the human being,” said Allen. “I always have this debate with people. I would say he’s the greatest ever.”
