Jets vs Cowboys: NFL Week 2 injury report: Breece Hall, Tyler Smith, Brandin cooks

It would be hard to ignore the fact that the Jets lost Aaron Rodgers on Monday. Nonetheless, he’s the only injury worry ahead of a clash with the Cowboys.

While the Jets have more or less a clean bill of health - aside from the injured QB - the Cowboys on the other hand, have had to dip into their reserves in order to supplement the starting roster. Can it make a difference?

New York Jets vs Dallas Cowboys: The Jets have some concerns

According to the last review on Thursday, the New York Jets have no new injuries to report as they prepare for an away game in Week 2 of the 2023-24 NFL season against the Dallas Cowboys Cowboys. To be clear, There are three Jets players, all of whom are offensive starters, who appeared on the official injury report as limited participants for the second day in a row. Running back Breece Hall, left tackle Duane Brown, and right tackle Mekhi Becton are the only players who currently carry an injury status for the Jets.

“Injury wise, Duane, Mekhi and Breece will be limited. No different than a week ago,” said Jets’ head coach Robert Saleh before the team’s walk-through practice on Wednesday. This is of course an unfortunate turn for the Jets after the trio of starters, manage to weather the storm during the Jets’ Week 1 22-16 overtime win over the Bills. It should be said that all three underwent offseason operations, which is to say it stands to reason that the team is currently trying to limit minutes in an effort to achieve full recovery for each of them. Where Brown and Becton are concerned specifically, they played all 54 offensive snaps in the season opener while Hall played a less significant role.

The Cowboys are facing a more difficult situation

The Cowboys come into this game fresh off of a sensational 40-0 Week 1 win against the New York Giants, however, they do so while traveling a little lighter. Indeed, there were three players from the team’s offensive line who were added to the official injury report, with the most notable among them being Zack Martin who was just added. In total, the Cowboys will be without five starters in their game against the Jets. As for Martin, he was a limited participant due to a groin issue, and now joins left guard Tyler Smith and left tackle Tyron Smith on the IL. We should also mention wide receiver Brandin Cooks who was a non-participant due to the fact that he’s currently fighting to recover from a knee injury that he suffered against the Giants. Dallas safety Donovan Wilson was upgraded to limited on Thursday. Lastly, there was Tyler Smith who has been struggling with a hamstring issue. According to head coach Mike McCarthy, both could feature. “Tyler is gonna work with rehab today and see if we can integrate him. Brandin, probably same mode,” McCarthy said.
