Welcome, dear reader, to a clash of worlds we never expected. But this is 2025, and we’ve already seen plenty of things we thought would never happen... and it’s still January. Now, in the latest episode of You Thought Things Couldn’t Get Weirder? we have, erm, Travis Kelce versus Lil Wayne.

You read that right: the Gulf of America, exploding Cybertrucks, a dog becoming the first being to cross the new Romania-Hungary border, and now we’ve got Tunechi against Mr Swift.

The debate surrounding the refereeing controversy post-Chiefs vs Texans has filled the air like a smog, clouding everything else out in the world of sport and keeping everyone’s mouths moving faster than, well, a world-class rapper.

Wayne: ‘I hate the cheating azz chiefs’

It all started, as is the way with the modern world, with a Tweet, or whatever that nazi-saluting son of an Emerald miner wants to call a post on his cesspool website.

“I hate the cheating azz chiefs”, wrote Wayne before adding ten minutes later “It’s not even impressive when u cheat and then clearly try to cheat. Just win baby." Nobody expected the New Orleans rapper, famous for his Tha Carter albums, to dive in on recent NFL goings on, but here we are. And Travis himself has responded, because why not?

Speaking on the latest episode of the New Heights podcast, Travis and his brother Jason gave their thoughts on Wayne’s reaction to the Kansas City Chiefs’ win.

“The whole world was talking about something else during the game, and I’m sure you saw some of this, but they were complaining about the refs again, Trav,” ex-Philadelphia Eagles centre Jason said. “Even Lil Wayne. Lil Wayne [wrote on social media], ‘I hate the cheating a- Chiefs. So an a– with two z’s,” he added, with Travis responding: “Shout out to Tunechi, man.”

Clearly Travis doesn’t want to get into a celebrity battle with Wayne, or he prefers simply not to wade in on the public reaction to the refereeing debate. This is his world now, he’s not just a sportsperson, he’s the most famous name in NFL.
