After the Los Angeles Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI, multiple reports indicated that Rams head coach Sean McVay was planning to leave his position to work as a TV pundit, but this has proved not to be the case, as the 36-year-old has opted to extend his contract at SoFi Stadium.

GM Snead set to join McVay in extending with Rams

In a press conference after practice on Tuesday, McVay confirmed that he this summer agreed to a new deal with the Rams to stay on as the team’s long-term head coach. He made the announcement alongside Les Snead, the franchise’s general manager, who is also expected to renew his contract.

“Les and I have always been a pair,” McVay said. “We wanted to be able to announce that when both of us got [it] done. Mine is done. Les is in the process of that.”

The financial terms of McVay’s new contract new have not yet been released. He is understood to have earned $8.5 million per season as part of his previous Rams agreement.

McVay’s Super Bowl records

McVay has been the Rams’ head coach since the 2017 season and since then is 55-26 in the regular season and 7-3 in the postseason. He is the youngest head coach in NFL history to participate in a Super Bowl (LIII, at 33 years old) and to win the NFL championship game (LVI, at 36 years old).
