Update:

Micah Parsons’ long-running Dallas Cowboys contract saga has come to a dramatic end after the defensive end was traded to the Green Bay Packers, a blockbuster move that has sent shockwaves through the NFL.

Parsons’ record-breaking Packers deal

Parsons will sign a four-year, $188 million deal with $120 million fully guaranteed, giving him a $47 million average annual salary, the highest ever for a non-quarterback in league history. The contract surpasses the $41 million per year deal of Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt, cementing Parsons’ status as one of the NFL’s elite defensive stars.

Soon after news of the trade broke, the 26-year-old shared an emotional social media message to Cowboys fans and his former teammates.

“You embraced me and my family as your own. You made a kid from the East Coast feel right at home in Texas. Every time I pulled up to work, every time I stepped out onto that field, I felt the weight and pride of representing you. You didn’t just give me a jersey, you gave me a place to belong.

Parsons explains Cowboys departure: “Not in my control”

Parsons described joining the Cowboys, the team he supported growing up, as “more than a dream, it was destiny.” He went on to explain why things ultimately came to an end.

“I never wanted this chapter to end, but not everything was in my control. My heart has always been here, and it still is. Through it all, I never made any demands. I never asked for anything more than fairness. I only asked that the person I trust to negotiate my contract be part of the process.”

As part of the deal, the Cowboys will receive two first-round picks (2026 and 2027) along with defensive tackle Kenny Clark, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
