Update:

Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett is on the brink of etching his name into NFL history this weekend as his team prepare to host the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 17 of the 2025 season.

With 22 sacks to his name so far, Garrett sits just one full takedown away from breaking the league’s single-season sack record, a mark currently held jointly by Hall of Famer Michael Strahan and Steelers star T.J. Watt.

Garrett himself spoke of his desire to achieve the milestone by bringing down a quarterback of Aaron Rodgers’ stature. Garrett called Rodgers “legendary” and said it would feel meaningful to set a record against a player with such a distinguished career.

“Rodgers is legendary himself, and it’s a legendary record I’m chasing”

“[Rodgers is] legendary himself, and it’s a legendary record I’m here chasing,” Garrett said on Friday. “That’d be a great one to put a picture on the wall with.”

The Browns pass rusher has been one of the most dominant forces in the NFL all year. His 22 sacks reflect relentless pressure during games, and he has been a disruptive force in matches across the league.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin acknowledged Garrett’s impact ahead of the clash, noting how significant the defensive end has been in recent matchups. In games at Cleveland’s home stadium, Garrett has tallied multiple sacks and played a central role in victories for the Browns. “Myles Garrett has certainly been an issue for us in that venue,” Tomlin said.

“I think he’s had five sacks against us in our last two trips, neither of which we won. And so we understand the gravity of what we’re going into and how they engineer victory and who’s significant in doing so. He’s at the doorstep of history, and so we certainly have respect for that.”
